Division I: Völker (institutional) healthcare beds. Living in the usual way The
lead product in division I of the Völker AG is the homely healthcare bed
for care homes, along with other furniture like bedside cabinets
and servers, chairs and tables, cupboards, chests of drawers and shelves
which serve as furnishings for rooms and apartments in old people's homes,
senior residencies and assisted living facilities. With it, Heinrich Völker's vision to create healthcare furniture which makes it possible for living in the usual way, has been consequently implemented since 1992, the year in which the first model in a new generation of healthcare beds was launched. While doing so, it was about realizing technical prerequisites: to largely facilitate the daily work of nursing staff and to relieve them of a big chunk of work by means of occupants' own mobility. This, however, is only the basis for a healthcare bed which doesn't look different than a normal living bed, and which by means of own mobility opportunities provides the occupants with more self-esteem. The - admittedly indirect - target group of Völker healthcare beds comprises old people who are often in need of care and the physically handicapped (600,000 people in need of care and 250,000 severely handicapped people in Germany alone) who either temporarily or for a longer period spend their time or the eve of their lives in nursing homes. But it's also the tens of thousands of nursing staff which take care of this person subgroup. Our customers and hence the direct target group is all charitable, state-owned or private facilities which offer nursing care accommodations. The declared aim of this Völker division is to further increase and secure its domestic market share of over 60 percent (healthcare beds in total) in the long term. The sales already generated by representations in 23 countries will be increased in such a way that the export share will grow up to 50 percent of total production in the medium term. |
