Subject: Systematic decubitus prophylaxis - new pressure reduction system in healthcare beds - the MiS® Micro-stimulation System.

Experts think that nearly one in three occupants in elderly care facilities suffer from pressure sores. This is all the more tragic, because it was an avoidable disease, according to Christel Bienstein, chair of the expert advisory board of the care foundation. But we are not the only ones to have this problem. The NPUAP (National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, USA) even refers to decubitus ulcers as being a "national tragedy", because on the one hand they cause great pain to the persons concerned and place a considerable burden on the public health system, but were avoidable on the other hand... read more

Subject: "How much attention has to be paid to the mechanics of Völker healthcare beds?" To be absolutely honest: very little, fast cleaning, only little maintenance, and repairs are virtually non-existent.

Investments decisions for new healthcare beds are often taken with a view to the budget only. In the course of the bed's service life - which easily reaches ten years - this has just as often negative impacts. Because an essential aspect to be considered with every new purchase are add-on costs which, depending on the relevant model, turn out to be more or less high and which may quickly exceed the cost price of a healthcare bed....read more

Subject: "Völker healthcare beds look kind of really expensive." Völker healthcare beds are not "kind of expensive". They are really very reasonable.

This is what caregivers want: more stability with healthcare beds for a safe work with occupants, because mobility already begins in the healthcare bed. Before carrying out nursing procedures on the occupant lying in bed, caregivers first adjust the bed's lying surface to be at the same height as their pelvis. With a person being 165 cm tall, this requires a height adjustment to at least 90 cm. So the bed has to be raised to its full height. The brakes must be fully applied and locked. In order to provide safety to both caregivers and occupants, the lying surface should then be kept at this working height and as stable as possible during all exercise.read more

Subject: Providing active care up to individual independence. How do healthcare beds promote measures for mobilization?

Various resistance is often offered to active care - by occupants themselves, by insufficient nursing aids or by too low a time budget. Nevertheless, the aim of the care order will still be to provide occupants with individual independence, too. Especially own mobility plays an important role as well, once the occupant's resources have been revived and he or she has been made aware of the remaining or developing skills by means of nursing procedures.
Because studies have shown that the positive attitude towards himself arising from this has an effect that promotes health and is the prerequisite for managing daily tasks, too. It creates self-confidence and significant trust in the future...read more

Subject: "What does Völker do with regard to electrical safety?" Völker guarantees tenfold safety by means of ten safety measures.

A term for electrically operated healthcare beds has crept into the vocabulary of all people involved in nursing care which is actually wrong - "electric healthcare bed" as it is also referred to in norms and regulations. Well, of course, healthcare beds are just as little "electric" as an "electric" iron or a baking oven. They are merely electrically operated. For decades, the proof of origin "Made in Germany" has been standing for exceptional quality - also internationally. Quite automatically, this mark has also the following overtones: Good and expensive. But what is cheap, and what is really expensive? Comparing the offers of healthcare bed manufacturers, the beds can be briefly divided into three categories: Healthcare beds - not dissimilar to hospital beds - as we have known them for decades.
