Benefit: Mobility.

Motivated and active patients are more satisfied partners in day-to-day care.
We know the resistance put up against endeavours for an activating care by occupants themselves, by insufficient nursing aids or by the time involved. Nevertheless, the aim of activating care remains to provide occupants with mobility options. And own mobility plays an important role as well, once the occupant's resources have been revived and he or she has been made aware of the remaining or developing skills by means of nursing procedures. Because studies have shown that the positive attitude towards himself arising from this has an effect that promotes health and is the prerequisite for managing daily tasks, too. It creates self-confidence and significant trust in the future.

However, the idea of own mobility works only if, for example, a multifunctional hospital bed is available as an aid, of which adjustment options can be selected by the occupant himself and if they are in tune with each other, thus safely assisting the occupant in his or her efforts.

In case of a - mechanical, hydraulic or electrical - system comparison, a decision can therefore only be taken in favour of an electrically operated healthcare bed. Because the benefits to caregivers and people to be cared for are much greater in this case. The fears stirred up by safety discussions in particular have never posed a problem to Völker healthcare beds with their 10-fold safety warranty. Likewise, the technical safety checks - often considered to drive up costs - to be carried out for mechanically or hydraulically operated beds are more expensive due to their design. And of course, they are also prescribed for these beds as they are also medical products.

The huge number of benefits offered by electrically operated Völker healthcare beds to people receiving care just as well serve to provide maximum support to nursing staff. Less workload through better operating conditions lowers absence rates and promotes employee's contentment. A time saving of at least 25 percent a day is achieved with an electric healthcare bed compared with conventional, mechanical models.

Using a hand control unit that is attachable to either side of the bed or can be used with flexible holder (optional), the height and lying surface of Völker healthcare beds, for example, can be adjusted by the occupant. The stable telescopic height adjustment enables the bed to travel from lowest to maximum working height fast (in 25 seconds) and in a safe way for the occupant. The low height of Völker hospital beds is ideal for wheelchair users. Another benefit: When sitting on the bed, no pressure load arises on the upper legs because assist rails hide away beneath the lying surface when not needed. The low height simultaneously supports MS patients, for example, who can raise their legs up to a certain extent only. Finally, the low position also avoids severe accidents if a patient falls out of bed. Also the so-called comfort sitting position can be selected via the hand control unit, if required.

The four-section lying surface is available in lengths of 200 and 220 cm and in widths of 90 and 100 cm, while the back section has an ergonomic length of 90 cm (instead of 70 cm). Völker healthcare beds are equipped with the new MiS® Micro-stimulation System as standard, by means of which somatic and vestibular stimulation is achieved, own mobility of patients maintained and promoted while making an efficient contribution to pressure-sore prevention.

If the back and upper leg sections are adjusted at the same time, the occupant is protected from compression by means of a mattress compensation as standard, with the compensation via a ramp simultaneously forming a kinaesthetic space for the bed occupant. Infinite lying surface positioning: Upper leg and back sections are powered by two mutually independent, separate motors. And finally, the two-part assist rails of Völker healthcare beds that can be raised in two stages, are not only used as a safeguard, but also as a help for raising up, getting up and as a stand-up support thus promoting the mobility of the person receiving care.

This is quite a comprehensive bundle of functions, but there are also enough protection devices. So during his own mobility, the occupant can thus largely do without the help of third parties which in nearly every case means the help of caregivers. That way, nursing staff can save time that can be used for nursing activities that are more important.
