The high market share enjoyed by our lead product, healthcare beds, in Germany makes it essential to expand into new markets if we are to continue to realize double-digit sales growth. This also means - in addition to product diversification - expanding the export market for our products and opening it to both hospital beds and healthcare beds.

Within the past decade, Völker has grown into a multinational enterprise with an export share of 40 percent by sales volume. Völker has wholly owned sales and service companies in France and Belgium - while in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States, it operates in partnership with domestic companies. In all, we have distributors in 20 countries in Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East and the Far East.

This wide presence makes Völker, with products for better care of seniors and disabled individuals, a true "global payer" in our respective market segments. Our extensive experience has taught us that, in spite of some cultural differences within Europe and more significant ones in Latin America, the expectations of people who receive care are very similar everywhere: personal independence and dignity.

For this reason, we foster a close relationship with our worldwide partners by promoting regular personal meetings and a continuous exchange of opinion. Without exception, these ideas translate into product development. As a case in point, consider the higher safety requirements in the United States. Völker healthcare beds put these requirements in practice many years ago, although they have become mandatory in Germany only very recently.
