Benefit: Mobility.

Motivated and active patients are more satisfied partners in day-to-day care.
The aim of each activating care procedure is the mobility of the patient. All people involved in care know the resistance put up to this effort by patients themselves, by insufficient aids or by the time involved. The patient's own mobility plays an important role. His or her resources are revived, and remaining or newly created capabilities for recovery are made known to him or her by means of nursing procedures, because studies have shown that the positive attitude towards himself arising from this has an effect that promotes health and is the prerequisite for managing daily tasks in the hospital, too. It creates self-confidence and significant trust in the future.

However, the idea of own mobility works only if a multifunctional hospital bed is available as an aid, of which adjustment options can be selected by the patient himself. And when they are in tune with each other, thus safely assisting the patient in his efforts.

Using a hand control unit that is attachable to either side of the bed or can be used with flexible holder, the height and lying surface of Völker hospital beds can be adjusted by the patient. The sturdy columns of the telescopic height adjustment work fast and safely for the occupant only taking 25 seconds to telescope the bed's height from 39.5cm to 80 cm. The low height of Völker hospital beds is ideal for wheelchair users. Further benefits: When sitting on the bed, no pressure load arises on the upper legs because assist rails hide away beneath the lying surface when not needed. The low height simultaneously supports MS patients, for example, who can raise their legs up to a certain extent only. Finally, the low position also avoids severe accidents if a patient falls out of bed. Also the so-called comfort sitting position can be selected via the patient's hand control unit. The four-section lying surface is available in lengths of 200 and 210 cm and in widths of 90 and 100 cm, while the back section has an ergonomic length of 90 cm (instead of 70 cm).

Völker hospital beds are equipped with the new MiSŪ Micro-stimulation system as standard, by means of which somatic and vestibular stimulation is achieved, own mobility of patients maintained and promoted while simultaneously making an efficient contribution to pressure-sore prevention.

If the back and upper leg sections are adjusted at the same time, the patient is protected from compression by means of a mattress compensation as standard, with the compensation via a ramp simultaneously forming a kinaesthetic space for the bed user.

Infinite lying surface positioning: Upper leg and back sections are powered by two mutually independent, separate motors.

And finally, the two-part assist rails of Völker hospital beds that can be raised to two positions are not only used as a safeguard, but also as a help for raising up, getting up and as a stand-up support thus promoting the patient's mobility.

This is quite a comprehensive bundle of functions, but there are also enough protection devices. So during his own mobility, the patient can thus do without the help of third parties which in nearly every case means the help of nursing staff. That way, nursing staff can save time that can be used for more important and more sensible activities.
